The City of Orillia is seeking a qualified environmental/forestry company with expertise in Tree Care to develop a woodlot management strategy for several City owned woodlots, as well as a Citywide strategy for addressing the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) in City owned parks. The EAB strategy shall include Cost Mitigation strategies to control the overall cost associated with EAB damage. The successful respondent shall prepare a plan for the management of the impacts of the EAB as well as a separate plan for the management of all City owned woodlots. The woodlot strategy will be focused on public safety and preserving the long term sustainability of the forested lands. The EAB strategy will guide the management of the necessary tree removals, the mitigation of public safety impacts, and the replacement of trees that will be lost to EAB. The EAB strategy will provide guidance on operational requirements including, workload increases due to the volume of hazard trees requiring removal, enhancements to operational procedures designed to reduce liability and / or minimize aesthetic impacts, and replanting programs for the areas most significantly impacted. |
